KUCHING: The Boys’ Brigade will be holding its first Charity Fun Run concurrently in Kuching, Sri Aman, Sibu and Miri on September 16 in conjunction with its 60th anniversary in Sarawak.

About 2000 participants from the four places are expected to take part in the run which is open to all boys’ brigade members, former members and members of the public.

In a statement, the organisation said that the theme of the run was “United For A Better Future”, reflecting the six decades of support for each other and hope for unity, even more so, after having experiencing the different challenges and trials during the COVID-19 Pandemic whereby many physical activities and gatherings were halted.

Boys’ Brigade aims to raise RM100,000 to cover the operational costs of its HQ and activities.

Part of the proceeds will also be donated to Special Olympics Sarawak.

The Special Olympics programme, which started in Sarawak in 1998, is dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities physically, socially and mentally through year-round sports training and competitions.
