BINTULU: The Anjung Kasih of the Yayasan Kebajikan Negara (YKN) at Bintulu Hospital has become the first Anjung Kasih YKN to receive full sponsorship from a corporate entity, Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB).

Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri stated that this initiative showed a good commitment by the private sector in supporting community welfare efforts.

She emphasised the important collaboration with Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) and private companies in every state. During the ceremony, BPHB generously contributed RM1,000,000 to YKN.

She called on all private companies to join hands with the government in its efforts to improve welfare facilities for the well-being of the people.

Meanwhile, Nancy mentioned that the construction of the Anjung Kasih YKN at Bintulu Hospital would not involve new buildings, but would instead utilised existing structures, such as the out-dated nurses’ rooms.

“The tender process for the construction is underway, and the operational date will be set thereafter,” she said during a press conference after witnessing the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the establishment of Anjung Kasih YKN at Bintulu Hospital between YKN’s chief executive officer (CEO), Nordina Haron, and the Group CEO of BPHB, Ruslan Abdul Ghani, at the lobby area of Bintulu Hospital today (Sept 19).

The Anjung Kasih YKN at Bintulu Hospital will have 67 beds for patients, along with various other facilities such as accommodation rooms, prayer rooms, lounges, bathrooms, toilets, and dining areas, all fully sponsored by BPHB.

Nancy also explained that patients requiring these services would be from far areas like Belaga and Mukah, hence the construction of a new building is important to address the issue of space shortages.

The Anjung Kasih YKN at Bintulu Hospital is the fourth in Sarawak, following the existing ones in Sarawak General Hospital, Sibu Hospital and Miri Hospital.

Since 2006, there have been 19 Anjung Kasih operating nationwide, benefiting over 104,714 residents.
