SIBU: A total of 114 recipients from Sibu Parliamentary constituency and Nangka state constituency received their 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) vouchers during a presentation ceremony held at MUC Hall, Jalan Jasmine here, yesterday.
The voucher recipients were those who do not have a bank account.
Assistant Minister for Science Research and Biotechnology, Dr Annuar Rapaee who presented the vouchers to the recipients said BR1M means a lot to the needy.
“The government has implemented various programmes and assistance to help lighten the burden of the needy. Thus, all of us must appreciate the government’s effort to help the needy.
“Although certain quarters are disputing the government’s effort in helping the needy we must welcome the effort for the benefit and wellbeing of the people,” he said.
Dr Annuar who is also Nangka Assemblyman also advised the BR1M recipients to use the money wisely.
Sibu District Officer Awang Yusuf Awang Mostapha in his speech said that the distribution of BR1M for this year will be held in three times namely in February, June and August.
