KUCHING: Eagerly awaiting the arrival of Yang Di Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Bilal Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, many stood by at Pullman hotel here for seven hours yesterday (September 12).
Some came from distant places where Their Majesties didn’t visit.
Among the crowd, a group was spotted as early as 2 pm, displaying creative signs.
One sign read, ‘Pindah Sarawak’ (Move to Sarawak), while another cheekily said, ‘Marry Me Tengku’, targeting the Regent of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
For many, it’s a rare chance to meet Their Majesties and the princes including Tengku Panglima Raja Kolonel Tengku Amir Nasser Ibrahim Shah, and Tengku Ahmad Ismail Mu’adzam Shah.
New Sarawak Tribune managed to interview with some of those in anticipation.

I am so happy right now. I even brought my violin for Their Majesties to sign on it and on my shirt. I would also want autographs from the princes and princesses if I have the chance. I came here at 2 pm with my mother and sister.

This feels exciting for me as this is my first time experiencing an event like this. Even though this is a working day, I have decided to take the day off to see Their Majesties. I wouldn’t know when I would have another opportunity like today as this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance. I’m most definitely excited to meet Tengku Hassanal. I came here exactly at 4 pm along with my mother and aunt.

I have waited since 2 pm, and I’m so excited because I have never seen their Majesties in person. I’m most excited to see Tengku Hassanal. It is my day off, and unfortunately, I will not be joining the rest to Telok Melano, which is their final stop because I’m working.
