DARO: The construction of a bridge and jetty for the benefit of more than 1,000 residents of Kampung Tebaang here proves that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government has not abandoned the people.
Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad said the 45-metre bridge and village jetty project including the floating pontoon is expected to be completed by the end of August.
He revealed that the state government had allocated RM100,000 under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2019 to implement the project.
“The project is supervised by the Public Works Department (JKR) Daro Branch.
“Upon completion, it will not only serve the people of Kampung Tebaang but also the surrounding residents to enable them to commute to farms across the village,” he told reporters yesterday.
Safiee added the implementation of the RTP was led by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg for areas represented by GPS leaders.
“As the people’s representative, I will continue to actively plan development projects in the area to facilitate growth,” he said.
Saifee stressed that community leaders including village chiefs should also cooperate by helping to monitor the implementation of the project.
“The grassroots leaders are the government’s eyes and ears. Any issues or problems at the village level need to be resolved.
“At the same time, the community also need to be united ensure that this project is well taken care of,”
he added.
