MARUDI: Significant progress has been made in the construction of the Marudi Bridge, which now stands 86.3 per cent complete.
Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil, said that the bridge is on track to be opened to the public before Christmas.
“This bridge is a crucial link for those traveling between Miri and Marudi, and will also benefit residents in Mulu, Limbang, and Lawas as future road projects extend connections from Miri to Marudi,” he said during the One Million Safe Man-Hours Without Lost Time Injury celebration at the construction site on Friday.
Meanwhile, during the 16th School Sports Championship opening ceremony, the Marudi assemblyman revealed plans for local infrastructure improvements, noting that RM14 million has been requested from the Sarawak government to upgrade the Marudi Sports Complex.
“The upgrade is particularly important for the well-being of our schoolchildren and the broader Marudi community,” he said.
Enhanced facilities would not only elevate the quality of sports events but also transform the complex into a vibrant community centre for various activities.
“Sports foster a competitive spirit and teamwork among students, helping develop individuals who are not only competitive but also supportive of one another,” he added.
