MIRI: The upgrading of Kampung Pengkalan Lutong bridge is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
To date, 60 percent of the work has been done.
The RM100,000 project is under Senadin contituency’s Rural Transformation Project (RTP 2020) and is being carried out by Miri City Council (MCC).
The upgrading works started on Jan 11 this year.
Yesterday, Minister of Transport Datuk Lee Kik Shin paid a visit to Kampung Pengkalan Lutong and was briefed by MCC engineers on the progress of upgrading work on the entrance bridge to the cemetery.
Lee was accompanied by Miri City Council engineering team, Ketua Kampung Ali Mat and a few village development and safety committee (JKKK) members.
Prior to the upgrading works, several requests were made by community leader and residents about the damages on the bridge due to the old rotten wood and no further maintenance.
Lee was also briefed on a completed RTP project on resurfacing of road at Jalan Pangkalan Lutong 1 in Kampung Pangkalan Lutong which is also carried out by Miri City Council.
Resurfacing of the road started on Nov 9 last year and completed on December 17 that same year.
The total project cost RM50,000.
The village headman also requested Datuk Lee to construct a JKKK office at Kampung Pengkalan Lutong community hall.
The proposal would be considered under RTP 2021 Project which would be implemented by MCC as well.
Ali and the residents were very thankful for Datuk Lee’s initiatives and supports to assist this village and consistently implementing RTP projects in this village to provide better facilities to the residents.
In addition, Datuk Lee also urged MCC engineering team to expedite the implementation of all the RTP projects carried out by the Miri City Council.
