KABONG: Kabong assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir chaired a briefing on the canal construction at Sungai Seblak (Empayang) Kabong on Wednesday (Sept 22).

According to the Public Communications Unit, the briefing was held following a work visit by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg to the district on Sept 18.

It said the canal construction needed to be implemented given the geography and environmental factors that contributed to erosion occurring at the estuary.

Abang Johari was given a briefing regarding the Sungai Seblak Kampung Sungai Benang Kabong corridor repair project by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage.

On a separate occasion, Pertubuhan Peladang Kawasan (PPK) Kalaka purchased crops from  farmers who were unable to market their produce due to the pandemic.

Kalaka PPK general manager Japar Amin handed over 1,500kg of MD2 pineapples and 2,409kg of watermelons to Mohd Chee at the Kabong Service Centre.

The programme was implemented to help the farmers with excess produce which would later be distributed to the local community.
