KUCHING: The 2023 State Budget reflects the development in rural areas and the agriculture sector will move forward.
Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom noted that the State Budget 2023 is a surplus budget therefore the revenue gained must be given back to the people.
“The budget is rural-biased because we still need infrastructure, roads and utilities for the rural areas including telecommunication.
“This needs a lot of money and on my part, in the agriculture sector, it’s the only way for us to transform the rural areas.”
He said this to the reporters at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) today (Nov 21).
Dr Rundi pointed out that the availability of water, electricity, roads and telecommunication were crucial for the ministry to transform rural areas into modern farming zones.
