DALAT: Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah and some local sago smallholders have envisioned building a Sarawak Sago Industry Development Board (LPIRS) complex here.
The Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister shared the dream after revealing the progress of the proposed LPIRS, which according to her, is close to becoming a reality.
“In anything, we plan to do, we must have a dream or an idea and then struggle hard to realise it,” she said when officiating at the closing ceremony of the Agriculture Community Outreach Programme (AgriCOP) Dalat constituency at Stadium Perpaduan here yesterday (Oct 27).
She was representing Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
According to Fatimah, the complex would be a two-storey building to house the offices of LPIRS, Craun Research Sdn Bhd and Dalat District Sago Smallholders Association.
It will also accommodate a sago gallery to display things that are related to the industry and products based on sago, a mini auditorium to demonstrate the technology on sago processing and related activities, a germplasm garden and other facilities such as a café, public toilet, mini stage, playground and stalls.
Fatimah, who is also Dalat assemblywoman, said currently, they are still looking for a suitable site to build the complex of their dreams. Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah and some local sago smallholders have envisioned building a Sarawak Sago Industry Development Board (LPIRS) complex here.
