SIMUNJAN: The newly completed Esplanade Simunjan here is expected to become another tourist attraction in the district.

The new landmark here was inaugurated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg yesterday.

Built at a cost of RM1,244,781, the project involved two phases with the first phase commencing on Nov 6, 2019 and completed on Aug 5, 2020.

The second phase commenced work on Sept 25, 2021 and was completed on Jan 21 this year.

Residents here, when met by New Sarawak Tribune, pointed out that the facility has provided a place for visitors to relax and enjoy the landscape overlooking Batang Sadong.

They also enthused that the Esplanade Simunjan has provided necessary facilities for locals to engage in businesses, with the prospects to enhance their standard of living in the process.

Here are some of their comments on the positive impact that will touch their lives following the completion of the esplanade.

We very much welcome the construction of the esplanade here. This place will become the go-to place for visitors stopping by in Simunjan to have their meals served by the locals here. Through this, I am sure that businesses at the facility and nearby will boom.

The location is really strategic and I believe that this will be a suitable location for tourists who seldom step foot in Simunjan to dine on the local delicacies and enjoy themselves.

We can see the growing number of people beginning to visit Simunjan. With the construction of the esplanade, I believe Simunjan is on the right track in the state’s development plan. Aside from that, the facilities have also given the locals here more opportunities to conduct their businesses.
