SERIAN: The Bukit Semuja constituency will soon have brighter main roads at night, thanks to new street lights from the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA).

Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus shared that he had recently visited different parts of the constituency to boost street lighting.

This move is all about safety and convenience. John said the lights will help residents by ensuring the roads are safe and easy to navigate at night.

“We took a tour from Kampung Bedup to Kampung Koran,” John told New Sarawak Tribune today (Sept 22).

Some main roads to get these lights are Jalan Gedong (from the main road to Kampung Kuala), Jalan Bedup, Jalan Slabi-Mantung Merau (from Ranchan to Kampung Koran), and other key roads in Bukit Semuja.

This is all part of the GKCDA project, he said.

On Thursday, during this tour, John was joined by GKCDA chief executive officer Datuk Ik Pahon, officers from the Public Works Department (PWD), and Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) to spot the exact places to set up the lights.

Local leaders, including village heads along these roads also joined in to give their thoughts.

“It’s important for the community to be part of this. We want our villages bright and safe,” John added.
