KUCHING: Nectar Consortium Sdn Bhd is collaborating with Craun Research Sdn Bhd on the development of the nipah and sago industries.
According to a statement recently, the collaboration aims to spur the expansion of the industries of both commodities to empower the economy of rural and urban communities which is in line with the government’s new economic model to develop Sarawak as a high-income society.
Craun Research Sdn Bhd chief executive officer, Zaidell Husaini said the planters and farmers on many occasions were still stuck with using conventional methods.
“However, with the support of the private sector, we are confident in helping the state to become a net food exporter and create commercial producers for the nipah and sago industries.
“With the involvement of cooperatives, it will streamline the entire value chain,” he added.
Nectar Consortium Sdn. Bhd’s managing director, Ahmad Tarmizi Mukhtar, said that the objective of collaboration with Craun Research was to pave for the paradigm shift for both industries to compete.
He also added that bringing these industries to another level would benefit industry players, key stakeholders and the community and help to uplift the standard of living of the people.
“We want to assist the farmers and local communities to increase their productivity and incomes simultaneously. I believe the only way to deliver for all is to work committedly as a team through our digital innovation,” he said.
