KUCHING: The Ministry of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Women Leadership Foundation (WLF) at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here.

Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister, Datuk Fatimah Abdullah revealed that with the signing of an MOU, both parties were committed to bringing Sarawak women to greater heights.

“From the call of the Premier, we acknowledge that women need to be equipped with the right competency, knowledge and skills for the new economy.

“Therefore, continuous programmes such as today’s are a necessity,” she shared.

She also revealed that her ministry and related agencies had drafted and established multiple programmes and initiatives in making sure that women were actively involved and able to contribute to the socioeconomic development in Sarawak.

Fatimah added that with the signing of MOU, both her ministry and te hWoemn Leadership Foundation would look into the areas of cooperation and identify job placements, leadership positions, board placement for Sarawak women leaders, facilitate advancement in entrepreneurship and market expansion for Sarawak entrepreneurs and establish WLF’s representative office in Sarawak for ease of coordinating and implementing women leadership programmes in the state.

“Our partnership with WLF will see regular educational opportunities for chosen women leaders to attend world class institutions around the globe,” she added.

Also present during the signing ceremony were Deputy Minister for Women, Childhood and

Community, Mohammad Razi Sitam, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Dr Rashidah Bolhassan and chairman of Women Leadership Foundation (WLF) Datuk Dr Hafsah Hashim.
