MUKAH: Flowers and candles are in high demand here in conjunction with the Christian All Souls Day which falls today (Nov 2) every year.
Full-time and part-time flower traders are making good income during this time of the year.
A survey in this town yesterday found that the flowers were sold between RM2.50 to RM3.50 per stalk.
Flowers arranged in the form of a bouquet and other shapes were priced from RM15 each.
Business premises selling candles are also enjoying brisk sales in the last few days as some customers preferred to buy earlier.
Conventional shape candles are sold between RM1.50 to RM2.80 per box depending on the size, while modern shape and design candles cost a little bit more depending on the sizes.
Flowers and candles have become part of All Souls Day commemoration here in the last few years.
On All Souls Day, families and relatives normally visit the graves of their dear departed to pray and pay respects, and at the same time, place flowers and light candles at the graves of their departed ones.
Prayers in the church and at the cemeteries are also held on All Souls Day.
