Buah terap season is here

For this boy in Kampung Lingga, Serian, about 70km from Kuching there’s no need to go to a supermarket to get his favourite fruit. It is now ‘buah terap’ season so it’s not uncommon to find a few floating down a river running past his village. The fruit (scientifically called Artocarpus Odoratissimus and also spelled ‘buah tarap’) is endemic to Borneo and are therefore not found naturally elsewhere including Malaya. Photo: Mohd Alif Noni
