CM to launch Saberkas bubur lambok roadshow
KUCHING: The launching ceremony of Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) Bubur Lambuk Roadshow programme is scheduled for 4pm on May 11 at Masjid Darul Hana in Petra Jaya here.
Hosted by Saberkas Pantai Damai Branch, whose head is Pantai Damai assemblyman Datuk Abdul Rahman Junaidi, the state-level programme is scheduled to be launched by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Dr Abdul Rahman is Saberkas vice-president while Abang Johari is president.
According to the programme’s organising chairman cum Saberkas secretary general Safiee Ahmad, some 60 Saberkas branches throughout the state will co-host the programme in their own localities from May 6 to 31.
“This will be the 16th year that the Saberkas Bubur Lambuk Roadshow programme is being organised in conjunction with the month of Ramadan,” he said at a press conference at the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) Tower in Jalan Bako yesterday.
Safiee said the programme seeks to foster ties as well as to engage with the community especially the youths.
He said the programme will be conducted on gotong-royong (work party) basis with the involvement of various parties such as Padiberas National Berhad (Bernas), the Malaysian Youth Council and other related agencies.
“We will also be taking this opportunity to emphasise the concept of sadaqah (voluntary charity) in the hope of giving something to the less fortunate. Inshallah, the programme can educate the members of the public in the direction of good deeds,” he elaborated.
Meanwhile, Dr Abdul Rahman said the preparation of the bubur lambuk will start as early as 8am and there will be other mini programmes featured after Zohor prayer at around 1pm such as the handing over of donation to around 100 to 150 asnaf (poor) from the nearby villages.
“Since the programme will take place at Masjid Darul Hana near the main road in Petra Jaya, we are expecting participation of around 800 to 1,000 people from the 13 villages in the nearby areas and passers-by as well,” he added.
