PADAWAN: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Supreme Council member Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim has lashed out at the federal government over the Budget 2020.
Speaking to New Sarawak Tribune after the closing ceremony of the Borneo Highlands Padawan Nature Challenge 2019 here in Padawan yesterday, he said the budget proposals brought back memories of the 1980s and the 1990s when Sarawak was allegedly treated like a stepchild.
“We had already expected that the federal government would not treat us as an equal partner,” he said.
Ahmad also hit out at Petronas over the taxes of oil and gas that had not been paid to the state.
“Shell and Murphy Oil and another sub-contractor company had paid the taxes, but Petronas, our renowned oil and gas company, has not paid Sarawak yet.
“By right, revenues from the taxes on oil and gas extracted from Sarawak should be returned to the state as provided for under the Federal Constitution,” he said.
Irked with the Budget 2020 figures, Ahmad urged the state government to govern Sarawak the Sarawakian way, instead of begging for more allocations from the federal government.
“What all they (PH) care about are their (Malaya) products.
“From today onwards, we must continue to fight for our rights that had taken away by the federal government,” he stressed.
