MIRI: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg welcomed the Budget 2020, but would have wanted bigger allocation for school infrastructure.
“It is not what we expected but definitely something to move our economy forward,” said Abang Johari when met by a group of local media at Mega Hotel here after an investiture ceremony yesterday.
The investiture ceremony was held in conjunction with Sarawak governor Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud’s 83rd birthday celebration.
This year, the celebration was held in Miri.
When asked on Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng’s statement of the federal government’s readiness to extend the Fuel Subsidy Programme (PSP) to Sabah and Sarawak if the two states wished to take part in the programme, Abang Johari quipped, “lt’s up to them (the federal government), we cannot expect 100 per cent because they said the government (federal) is facing some difficulties, so we don’t expect much.”
“Overall, the Budget 2020 is ok,” he added.
