KUCHING: Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom expressed hopes for the Budget 2023 to be sensitive to Sarawak and its people’s needs.

“It is always our hope to have a better budget and for the federal government to be sensitive to our needs.

“I hope that the budget will be helping those who are from the low income and underprivileged group,” he said.

He said this when speaking to members of the media after officiating at the Pertubuhan Peladang Negeri Sarawak (PPNS) 37th annual general meeting today.

Dr Rundi stated that Sarawak needs help from the federal government in order to achieve its aspirations such as becoming the net food exporter by the year 2030.

Admitting that it is a big challenge, he assured that his ministry together with the relevant agencies and departments will work towards the goal.

“There are still a lot of work to do which requires the collective efforts by all agencies and departments from the state and federal government.
