KUCHING: Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said that Budget 2024 remains to be operational based compared to the state budget which has been development based.
The Deputy Premier stated this was because even though Sabah has a bigger population, Sarawak has much bigger land area that really required more allocation for development.
“Still it is official for our much needed and long awaited Sarawak Cancer Centre and let us get the necessary paperwork signed so we can get the project started.
“I am looking forward to look at the details of the budget so we can see how much are the funds for the existing projects and how much allocated for the new projects,” he said in a statement yesterday (Nov 13).
He was also grateful for the RM300 million Special Grant under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) for the second year.
“Let us get going together with other issues such as health and education autonomy under MA63 as soon as possible,” he added.
Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who is the Minister of Finance announced total allocation of RM393.8 billion with RM5.8 billion is allocated to the development of Sarawak.
