KUCHING: The Sarawak Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ACCCIS) has applauded the Budget 2023 proposals unveiled by Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on Today (Nov 21).
Its secretary-general, Datuk Jonathan Chai, pointed out that it will continue to provide support to local businesses in overcoming the challenges and difficulties posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The aid measures, he said, are important to keep businesses afloat as it would ease their cashflow.
He noted that the proposed Budget would also help keep many individuals employed if businesses are resilient enough to thrive in the relatively tougher environment anticipated in next year.
“In addition, the allocations provided for the Graduan ke Arah Keusahawanan (GERAK) and Usahawan Teknikal & Vokasional (USTEV) programmes are expected to help graduates, school leavers and rural entrepreneurs to help and expand their businesses.
“As part of the efforts in transforming our conventional economy into a digital economy, the RM5mill provided for the Go Digital Programme will also help those digitally savvy small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to market their products and services through e-commerce platforms,” he told New Sarawak Tribune.
He called on the business community, especially SMEs, to be proactive in capitalising on the assistance and opportunities provided by the state government.
