THE Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Ministry is set to organise the Buffalo Farming and Management Course at the Maragang Livestock Station in Lawas next year.
Its Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom said the course will be run in collaboration with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and the Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS).
The programme, he said, is expected to start by April of 2025.
Dr Rundi said this when delivering his ministerial winding-up speech on Tuesday.
“In addition, my ministry also implemented five training programmes aimed to speed up the adoption of ICT and to expose participants to the concept of smart farming among rural communities,” he said.
He added the programmes are the Rural Human Capital Development Training Programme, Sustainable Modern Agriculture through Rural Technopreneurship Programme (SMART), Smart Farming Programme, School Smart Farming Programme (for rural schools) and ICT Training Programme as well as ‘Digital Luar Bandar’.
“To date, 25 series of programmes have been conducted throughout Sarawak involving 719 participants,” he said.
