KUCHING: The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) will work together with various educational institutions to cultivate individuals with strong moral values, said its Director-General Datin Paduka Hakimah Mohd Yusoff.

Hakimah said this initiative followed a mandate from the Head of State, Tun Pehin Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, to integrate value education and human capital development.

“Tun Pehin Seri Dr Wan Junaidi shared his experiences and vision on how IKMAS and other educational institutions can place greater emphasis on value education.

“While strengthening academic knowledge is a focus for many institutions, forming values and identity as Muslims and human beings is equally important,” she told reporters after a courtesy visit by JAKIM and the Sarawak Malaysia Islamic Skills Institute (IKMAS) to Wan Junaidi and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi at the Astana Negeri Sarawak today (July 1).
During the visit, JAKIM and IKMAS invited him and his wife to be guests of honour at the 20th Convocation Ceremony of IKMAS, scheduled for August 12.
The ceremony will be held at the Sarawak Islamic Council Hall, where 53 students will receive their Diplomas in Islamic Dakwah Studies and 14 students will be awarded Basic Certificates in Dakwah Studies.
