MUKAH: The proposed Batang Lassa Bridge here which is expected to be ready by the year 2023 will be constructed soon.
Daro assemblyman, Safiee Ahmad, who mentioned this, said the cost of the three-kilometre-long bridge is about RM597 million.
He was confident that the new landmark in Daro will bring many benefits to the local people.
“The bridge will definitely enhance socio-economic development of the surrounding areas besides speeding the movements of the locals who currently use ferry to cross the river.
“It will definitely enhance the transportation of raw materials and agricultural produce,” he said after officiating at the opening ceremony of Jalan Kampong Rentap Balang and a multipurpose hall in Teluk Batu and Teluk Bulat, Bintangor yesterday.
Safiee hoped that the contractor and the Malaysian Public Works Department would complete the bridge on schedule.
He also stressed that the construction of the bridge proves that the state government (GPS) prioritized the development of rural infrastructure.
“Upon completion of the bridge, travel time from Bruit Island to Daro will be about five minutes,” he said. – Sarawak Voice
