Bukit Begunan lorry mishap kills one, injures two

SRI AMAN: A man was killed while two others were injured when the lorry they were travelling in went out of control and crashed at Kilometre 44, Jalan Sri Aman-Serian while descending Bukit Begunan early yesterday morning.

In the 12.40am incident, the driver and two lorry attendants were said to have been thrown out of their vehicle while the lorry fell into a five-metre deep ravine.

One of the attendants, Mohamad Firdaus Jamuri, 27, died at the scene due to serious injuries.

Lorry driver Robinson Bujang and another attendant Edward Ricky Mat Jinggan were reportedly injured.

It was understood that the lorry was heading to Sri Aman.

According to Operation Commander of the Sri Aman Fire Station Jilin Itar, all victims were pulled out before receiving early treatment.

The deceased’s body was handed over to the police for further action, while the other two victims were sent to Sri Aman Hospital for further treatment.

Meanwhile, while the victims were being treated at the scene, suddenly an express bus heading from Kuching to Sri Aman was travelling fast.

The bus carrying 39 passengers was said to be trying to avoid a vehicle in front of it before crashing onto the road shoulder.

However, all passengers were reportedly safe.
