KUCHING: Some 3,000 packages of food were distributed yesterday to heads of households in the Bukit Saban state constituency in view of the movement control order (MCO) in force over the Covid-19 pandemic, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said today.
He said the recipients included the heads of households from 94 longhouses and the Malay and Chinese communities and civil servants in Spaoh.
“The deliveries were coordinated by a political secretary to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, Dr Richard Rapu, on behalf of me, with the assistance of the staff from the Bukit Saban Service Centre and other volunteers,” he said in a statement.
Uggah, who is the Bukit Saban state assemblyman and the State Disaster Management Committee chairman, is on a 14-day self-quarantine at home following advice from the State Health Department.
Earlier, Betong Member of Parliament Datuk Robert Lawson Chuat represented Uggah in handing over food aid for the rural folk in the Saribas, Layar, Bukit Saban, Krian, Kalaka, Kabong, Beting Maro, Batang Lupar and Lingga constituencies. – Bernama
