KUCHING: A new cluster called the Bukit Sekubong Cluster has been declared in Sebauh district in Bintulu division.
In a statement on Tuesday (Jan 12), the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the index case of this cluster was Case 1,258.
It said this index case was detected through symptomatic individual screening on Jan 8 after receiving treatment at Sebauh Health Clinic, Bintulu.
“As of Jan 12 at 12pm, a total of 32 individuals have been screened and 21 were found positive including the index case; three were negative whereas eight are still awaiting results,” said the committee.
With the addition of this new cluster, there is a total of seven active clusters in Sarawak, namely the Bukit Sekubong Cluster in Sebauh; Jelita Cluster and Bah Sayap Cluster in Miri; Pasai Cluster, Sibu; Keranji Tabuan Cluster and Stutong Cluster in Kuching and Mador Cluster in Meradong.
SDMC announced on Tuesday that the Sebauh district changed its status from yellow to orange, with a total of 21 local infection cases reported in the last 14 days.
“Limbang district has changed from green to yellow after one new case was reported in the district today (Tuesday),” the committee said.
Kuching, Sibu, and Miri districts today remained red with a total of 316 local infections reported in the three areas over the last 14 days.
Meanwhile, the districts of Beluru, Dalat, Selangau, Sebauh, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Bukit Mabong, Meradong, and Bintulu remained yellow with an overall total of 26 local infection cases reported in the last 14 days.
