KUCHING: The Bumiputera voters in Stampin parliamentary constituency will be the determinant for Barisan Nasional to win the seat in the next General Election, said Minister in Prime Minister ‘s Department, Dato’ Sri Nancy Shukri.

“During the last state election, a lot of Bumiputera came out for voting  and this was one of the major factors that gave us the winning especially in Batu Kitang constituency and Batu Kawa constituency which are in Stampin parliamentary constituency.
“Because in Batu Kitang alone, there are almost 40 percent and Batu Kawa 39 percent of Bumiputera and if we combine this two alone, we are already close to getting there for winning,” she said.

She added that with the right strategy and right cooperation among the BN parties  and with all the proper  arrangement to  be effectively implemented down there, God willing, Barisan Nasioanal (BN) can take Stampin.

“We are confident because we have tried these during the last state election, but the main thing is the people need to work together,” she said when met at the Majlis Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri Cawangan PBB Batu Kitang at Kampung Haji Baki, yesterday.

Nancy said by winning big for Sarawak, BN can show to others how Sarawakians are fair during elections because of their trust in their leaders.

“Our leaders are the ones who really help the people out and we hope we will make sure Sarawak will prosper more through the BN.

“For PBB here, we are always on the ground and SUPP is very much relying on PBB to assist them. In the case of other SUPP and PBB seats, the other BN component parties are helping each other,” she stressed.

She also stressed that the good co-operation and friendly spirit among the BN component parties, including encouragement and sharing strategies among each other can ensure the winning for all BN component parties.

“We want to win big and not only that, we also want to make sure that those areas that were taken by opposition before this will be taken back by us in the next election and when you are a stronger party in the state, your voice can be heard by the federal leaders,” she mentioned.

Meanwhile, Nancy said that PBB already have a good number of women candidates as 14 seats are for women candidates.

“I am not sure if PBB will add another woman candidate. I am not answering for PBB because it is up to PBB top leaders. If the leaders feel women can be there for parliamentary seats, why not. The more the merrier, we can work together with the men,” she said.

She added that she had been appealing on behalf of the women in other component parties.

“We hope the other BN component parties will field women candidates and I think it is time for them to put up women candidate s.

“Because a lot of our rural seats are women majority, therefore this will boost the morale of women voters. I really hope other BN component parties will give chances to women in their parties as they have their soft skill that can win more hearts,” she pointed out.
