KUCHING: Bursa Malaysia Berhad (Bursa Malaysia) is bringing its flagship retail investment event, the Bursa Marketplace Fair 2024 (Marketplace Fair), to Vivacity Megamall this weekend (Nov 9-10).
The event, which will be officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, underscores Bursa Malaysia’s commitment to promoting financial literacy and fostering a culture of informed investing among Malaysians.
“Invest Today, Powering the Future” is the theme for the Marketplace Fair, highlighting its focus on educational talks designed to enhance knowledge on financial planning and wealth creation.
“Attendees will gain valuable insights into various investment opportunities across asset classes available on Bursa Malaysia,” the exchange said in a statement.
“This includes stocks, exchange-traded funds, structured warrants, derivatives, and even gold.”
Over a dozen key capital market players, including the Securities Commission Malaysia, investment banks, brokers, and public-listed companies, will be present at the fair to provide visitors with investment advice and services.
“Topics covered will range from the fundamentals of investing to technical analysis for developing personalised investment strategies,” it added.
“With a population exceeding 2.5 million, Sarawak currently has only 48,000 active Central Depository System (CDS) account holders, representing just 1.9 per cent of the state’s population,” it said.
“From January to September this year, Sarawakians opened 5,100 new CDS accounts, representing over 4 per cent of the approximately 115,000 CDS accounts opened nationwide during the same period,” it added.
The event is free and open to the public.
Visitors can register online or on-site and stand a chance to win exciting giveaway prizes.
