SIMANGGANG: The Burung Garuda paddlers from Kampung Tambak claimed the Raja Sungai Benak Batang Lupar 2023 title, besting the Cahaya Helang Tasik team from Saratok.

Mawar Poi’s team proved themselves champions, impressively leading 11 other teams in the Sakai 30 finals during the Benak Regatta yesterday.

Last year, the same team shone at the Kalaka Regatta, winning the “Raja Sungai” title.

This year’s triumph earned Burung Garuda the Head of State Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud’s rotating trophy, another trophy, and a cash reward of RM12,000.

The Mahkota Dewa Gedong team, led by Ahmad Man Ramli, came in second place, while the third spot went to the Todak Berjaya 1 team under the leadership of boat owner Kasdi Pandi.

These teams took home cash awards of RM9,000 and RM7,000 respectively, along with trophies.

The teams finishing fourth and fifth were Landas Mukah 2 and Lang Sengalang. They received cash rewards of RM5,000 and RM3,000, respectively.
