LUNDU: A total of 200 participants from the surrounding area participated in the Business Registration Programme (REGISTA) at the Lundu Community Hall here today (May 25).
The programme aimed to assist entrepreneurs, traders, and vendors in the Lundu District, particularly those who do not have business licences or permits.
Furthermore, it aimed to raise awareness among the community about the importance of conducting businesses legally, which involve obtaining licences or permits.
Through this programme, traders and vendors, as well as those involved in entrepreneurship, were given the opportunity to access assistance from various entrepreneurship agencies in the state.
Moreover, they were provided with training and guidance in business management to enhance their credibility as entrepreneurs.
The programme, held in collaboration with the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), local Resident Office and District Office, successfully attracted the interest of local entrepreneurs.
The opening ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED) Datuk Malcolm Mussen Lamoh on behalf of Deputy Premier cum MINTRED minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
In addition, a collaboration between Agrobank and MINTRED allocated RM375,000 to 12 participants in Bau, Lundu, and Sematan as financing under the Sarawak Micro Credit Scheme.
This programme was introduced by MINTRED in 2020 and has successfully assisted 2,529 entrepreneurs in registering their businesses.
This year, a similar programme in Miri attracted the participation of 181 individuals who found this beneficial programme worth attending.
Previously, the programme was also conducted in Bintulu, Serian, Sibu, Samarahan, Marudi, Kapit, Saratok, and Sarikei, resulting in the registration of 1,129 entrepreneurs across these eight locations through the REGISTA programme.
