BINTULU: Businesses such as supermarkets, shopping malls, private companies, among others, should be temporarily closed as per the Divisional Disaster Management Committee’s (DDMC) instructions regarding any staff of such entities testing positive for Covid-19.
Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said that the parties involved must follow Bintulu DDMC and Ministry of Health’s (MoH) instructions to disinfect and sanitise the whole premises, and make sure all staff undergo Covid-19 tests.
“Companies must not set their own standard operating procedures (SOPs) by announcing the reopening of their businesses to the public without obtaining permission from the authorities,” he said in a Facebook post today.
He said there was a case in Bintulu recently, where a positive case visited several business premises and infected the staff.
“The management committee will provide the instructions on what to do next should there be cases like this.
“If those who do not understand, you can directly ask Bintulu DDMC or MoH. Please do not make your own approach if the risk of infection has not been confirmed.”
Tiong therefore urged all parties to cooperate with Bintulu DDMC to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the division.
“On top of that, all parties must also play their respective roles and be responsible, and not to just rely on Bintulu DDMC, MoH or the frontline staff alone in dealing with the pandemic.”
He stressed that cooperation and strong support from everyone were crucial in ensuring the success of the government’s efforts to stop the infection chain.
