BAU: A businessman has been arrested for alleged involvement in illegal gambling activities.
Bau police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the 37-year-old grocery store owner was picked up at his premises at Kampung Pengkalan Tebang at around 5.30pm on Saturday following tip-offs from members of the public.
“During the raid, we seized betting slips, a mobile phone and cash amounting to RM68,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Poge added that the suspect and the seized items were taken to the district headquarters.
He said the case would be investigated under Section 4A(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
