The decision-making authority for entry into the country, including airports, will now rest with senior officers of Grade 41 and above in the Immigration Department, says Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

He said previously, officers of Grade 29 held this authority.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Saifuddin stated that the cabinet also agreed to establish assistance desks at entry points, staffed by officers proficient in multiple languages, to aid travellers facing communication issues.

Regarding recent disturbances at KLIA, he mentioned that the cabinet took note of matters requiring attention regarding management and the incidents involved.

He added that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA) is ready to cooperate with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to proceed with investigations.
