KUCHING: The cable car initiative which would bring visitors on the peak of mount Santubong a few years back is under hold as the idea to bring in project scale this size needs to be reviewed.
The Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the idea came a few years ago and has not taken off yet.
“This concept was introduced by the previous administration before Tok Nan’s term. Although, I would love to see the idea to manifest, we should consider to look at our monetary part for this idea.
Karim also said that if there’s some sort of attraction at the peak of Santubong such example like the Genting Highland, a casino or an amusement park, then the cable car can be something to ponder on.
“If we simply build a cable car purely for the mountain view then in a few years the interest would just fade away.
Karim was attending a press conference at the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) held at the Sarawak Cultural village when he told reporters this.
