MIRI: State Transport Minister Datuk Sri Lee Kim Shin has again suggested that an esplanade be built along the Kampung Kuala Batu 1, Kuala Baram area to to attract more visitors.

Lee told this on Saturday at the launching of annual event, ‘Pesta Bubok 2022’ at Kampung Batu 1 Kuala Baram fish market.

“This place has a huge potential as a tourist attraction in the northern part of the city,” he said at the launching of the annual ‘Pesta Bubok 2022’ at Kampung Batu 1 Kuala Baram fish market on Saturday.

“Fishermen in the area are still using the traditional method to catch fish and Bubok (krill shrimp), I noticed that many visitors are enticed to come here because of these attractions,” he said.

Lee added, the idea to develop an esplanade in the northern part of Miri city was  made when he  was an Assistant Minister of Tourism many years back.

“For the southern part of Miri city, we already have an esplanade in Luak, so why not, for this northern part of the city, we develop another esplanade,” he said.
