BINTULU: Bintulu Division Resident Jack Aman Luat called on the entire community in the division to register for the Covid-19 vaccine injection.
He is confident that the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine is safe and effective, and does not cause any serious implications on the body.
Registration can be done manually through the Google form available at the district office, health clinics and the MySejahtera application, he said.
He revealed that a total of 9,758 residents have registered to use the MySejahtera application for Bintulu district.
Meanwhile, manual registration of 766 eligible residents for Bintulu district, 3,305 in Tatau district and for the 3,952 individuals in Sebauh district was accomplished.
Jack who is also chairman of the Bintulu Divisional Disaster Management Committee, added that registration through the MySejahtera application is held continuously.
He, however, was not satisfied with the number of registrations received thus far as his department is
targeting a total of 181,000 for the jabs including in Tatau and Sebauh districts.
The Resident called on the public to support the efforts to ensure that the country, especially Bintulu, is free from the pandemic as soon as possible.
Jack received his Covid-19 vaccine at the Sri Kenyalang Hall of Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB) on Saturday afternoon.
Also present to receive the vaccine were Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Bumiputera Customs and Law) cum Kakus assemblyman Datuk John Sikie Tayai, Samalaju assemblyman Majang Renggi and Tanjung Batu assemblyman Chiew Chin Sing.
Bintulu divisional health officer Dr Melvin Chung and Bintulu district police chief Supt Zulkipli Suhaili were also present to receive their vaccine injections.
The start of the National Level Covid-19 Immunisation Programme on Saturday in Bintulu went on smoothly and complied strictly with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the Ministry of Health.
