KUCHING: A village chief here has requested for the construction of proper and better infrastructure at Kampung Tabuan Hilir.
The village chief, Sabu Haji Udin said that the village was in need of a proper internet connection and improved amenities.
“The internet coverage here is not satisfying. It is very difficult, especially for the children to study and for the villagers to do buy and sell activities on the online platform.
“It’s also difficult for us to relay messages to one another. Therefore, I think with proper connectivity, this area could progress further, “ he said after distributing ‘bubur lambuk’ (savoury porridge) to the villagers yesterday.
The event was organised by Tabuan Hilir PBB Branch and the Village Security and Development Commmittee (JKKK) of Tabuan Hilir.
He also stated beside improving existing facilities in the area, new amenities should be added to the village.
“It has to be done because there are no fishing jetty and a bridge to connect the houses by the river.
“The roads also need to be paved and elevated so that they will not be flooded during king tides.
“This is also to make it easier for the villagers to move to safer areas when floods occur,” he added.
Sabu said despite being relatively new in holding such a high position, he hoped the government would answer his plea for help to develop the area.
Sabu and the organising committee committee also distributed ‘bubur lambuk’ to around 300 to 400 doors in the area, regardless of race and religion.
In the future, Sabu plans to organise a Ramah Tamah Gawai Raya with the Dayak communities at Kampung Tabuan Hilir.
