Lo Khere Chiang (GPS-Batu Kitang) has urged the federal government to address the problem at Mile 15 roundabout in Kuching which is accident-prone area as soon as possible.
He pointed out this was to prevent more people from being hurt or killed at the roundabout.
“The roundabout was badly designed and constructed by the federal Public Works Department during the days of Pakatan Harapan.
“How can a small roundabout be constructed in the middle of a straight highway? It has caused a lot of accidents there, even fatalities.
“Since its completion, within six months, there have been over 200 accidents and this is something that the federal Public Works Department (PWD) should immediately redo. It should change the lane into a designated U-turn similar to the ones in Siburan.”
He said this yesterday (Nov 24) in his debate speech on the Supply Bill (2023) 2022 on the fourth day of the 19th State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting.
Lo also proposed that cycling paths be built in new development areas.
He said when the cycling paths were connected to cycling lanes, cyclists did not have to travel far to cycle and they could be safe too.
He also proposed that subsidies be given to Grab drivers.
“It would be a good idea to use them to continue to deliver food to every corner of Sarawak,” he said.
