KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Information chief Datuk Idris Buang is of the view that it would be wise for Sarawak to adopt similar precautionary measures as those implemented in Parliament for its current sitting.
He pointed out that the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting was unavoidable as the Supply Bill among other matters needed to be passed, which is mandatory for the state and its people.
“We need to be focused and realistic with the kind of preventive measures and standard operating procedure (SOP) if at all we have to be present in some unavoidable activities. We all should have the same sense of awareness and responsibility,” he said.
He also said it was a reasonable move to limit movement and reduce the number of events where physical presence was necessary.
“As our chief minister has said, the health of our people is of utmost importance,” said the Muara Tuang assemblyman.
Several containment measures were announced in Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 4), including MPs being told to avoid crowded events and places as well as limit their movementS outside Parliament.
MPs and their officers would also be subjected to Covid-19 swab tests every fortnight.
These measures were announced after several aides to a senator were infected with Covid-19.
