KUCHING: Senator Robert Lau is of the opinion that the movement control order (MCO) should be extended by another two weeks in Sibu division.
“MCO should be extended by another two weeks as the Covid-19 figure is still very high in Sibu division,” the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan chairman told New Sarawak Tribune when contacted today.
The MCO was enforced in the division on Jan 16 and will end at 11.59pm this Friday.
The MCO covers the districts of Sibu, Kanowit and Selangau in view of the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the Sibu division during that week.
Sibu continues to be a red zone for Covid-19.
As of Sunday, 255 Covid-19 positive cases were reported in Sarawak, with Sibu recording the highest cases at 71.
Of the 71 positive cases, 42 involved the Pasai Cluster, while 29 were detected through individual screening.
