SERIAN: The local people need to be properly informed about the importance of vaccine as protection against Covid-19.

This can be done through relevant awareness programmes that could remove the public’s negative perception of the safety of the vaccine, said Serian Resident Tuah Suni.

“The facts about the Covid-19 vaccine must be disseminated to the public. Therefore, we need the mass media to play their role to convey such matter to them,” he said.

He said this when met by reporters after attending the Covid-19 Immunisation Simulation Programme at the Serian Community Hall here today.

On the programme, Tuah said it was to enhance the understanding of the health workers as well as all agencies involved on vaccination procedures later.

“It also aims to prepare them (staffers) to face the Covid-19 vaccination which will be done.

“Besides that, it is also the largest vaccination programme in the country which requires a comprehensive approach and cooperation from various government agencies,” he said.

In a related matter, the Serian Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) chairman also urged the community in the area to get vaccinated to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“This is important as such measure is meant to ensure the Covid-19 pandemic does not continue to spread among the community,” he said.
