SATOK assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki has suggested that the Satok Sports Centre in the constituency be upgraded.
He said this would allow a higher capacity of games being played concurrently as well as the space to play other newer games that might be rising in popularity.
He made the proposal when debating on the Supply Bill 2025 on Friday.
Ibrahim then thanked the Sarawak government for the establishment of a Digital Innovation Centre in his constituency which will be completed soon.
“This will boost the local economy where start-ups and SMEs can benefit from having a base for their business.
“I also suggest that the government consider investing in sports development in Satok particularly in recreational sports,” he said.
Currently, he said there is the Satok Sports Centre at Padang SLPAS near Kampung Nombor which is utilised fully by residents to play futsal, sepak takraw and pickleball.
“Recreational sports are essential in fostering an active society and maintaining health particularly for the middle age group,” he said.
