KUCHING : Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Youth Central Chairman and Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Michael Tiang yesterday suggested that the 1Malaysia People’s Aid ( BR1M) be reviewed and relaunched so that such payouts would reach the hands of the needy and the poor, especially single mothers, senior citizens and kidney failure patients.
When BR1M was implemented by giving payouts to targeted group of people, the scheme was indeed very popular, he pointed out.
Tiang agreed that the BR1M payouts might not have reached the real needy ones in our society effectively.
He disagreed with Federal Minister, Mohammed Azmin Ali who s a id BR1M should be stopped as there were elements of corruption.
“Well, the Prime Minister is not wrong in suggesting that BR1M should be slowly reduced and eventually abolished as he is against giving “clutches” to the people,” said Tiang.
