DALAT: The residents of Sungai Kut near here hoped that the authority concerned would set up a health clinic at Sungai Kut Muara in the near future.
A villager, David Bin Ulis said if the clinic were to materialise it should be similar to the 1Malaysia clinic which charges every patient only RM1.
“I don’t know whether the 1Malaysia clinic is still relevant but one thing for sure is that it has been very helpful for residents in the rural areas or far from the hospitals like us,” David said.
David who is chairman of Kampung Sungai Kut Muara Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) also pointed out that the clinic should not only cater to those living in Sungai Kut Muara and Kut Tengah but also villages along Batang Igan like from Kampung Bungan until Kampung Ilas and also longhouses in the area. If I was
not mistaken the total population in these settlements is more than 6,000. All this while residents of Kut Muara have to drive all the way to Dalat Hospital to get medical treatment and it is not only the distance that matters but also the waiting period at the hospital,” he pointed out.
David also believed that it was high time they have a health clinic in the area.
