KUCHING:  The rampant sneaky habits of snatch thieves and burglars at small lanes along rows of shophouses here can be curbed with the help of the security cameras in their premises.

Naturally, it will costs the shop owners some money but in the long run, their purchase is well worth it.

Even eating outlets have a CCTV as some prefer to be safe rather than sorry later.

One customer sums it up as it saves her quite a bit of a hassle if any of her gadgets which she usually carry like her laptop and smartphone were to be snatched or stolen.

“Most of the time, I would do my work at the eating premises as I am a freelancer and its convenient for me while I eat my lunch or something.

“It is quite a relief to notice that the coffeeshop or the cafe that I am lunching at, for example, is equipped with a CCTV,” she said.

Sarawakians or Malaysians, in general, ought to be vigilant at all times and check their surroundings as snatch thefts are quite a problem in the country.
