KUCHING: Integrity is a core practice that must be upheld in every agency to ensure that the vision, mission and function of an agency as a whole can be achieved, said Datuk Julaihi Narawi.
It plays an important role besides having high professional values and teamwork in an organistion, said the Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications.
“The motto of Kuching Water Board (KWB) which is ‘Integrity in Our Practices’ is based on the reality that each of us must together preserve the dignity of ourselves and our families with integrity.
“In carrying out our trust and responsibility, we cannot run away from accusations and complaints until investigations are carried out at any time, regardless of whether we are still serving or not.
“Therefore, it is our responsibility to always be careful, including myself, to comply with the rules that have been set,” he said.
He said this while speaking at the Kuching Water Board Integrity Day 2022 “Integrity of Our Practices” ceremony at Dewan Baitulmal Kuching, here, yesterday.
Therefore, he said, it is important that every decision or action made is implemented with full trust, transparency, and obeys the rules, guidelines and laws in force.
He also said that the KWB Integrity Day Celebration 2022 shows the organisation’s commitment to culture as well instilling integrity in every employee.
“Therefore, we need to ensure that the interests of our organisation are prioritised over the personal interests that have been set, thus ensuring that the programmes or projects that have been designed can be implemented successfully,” he said.
According to Julaihi, the KWB Anti-corruption Management System policy and guidance is a collective commitment to improve aspects of governance and internal control.
“Under the Anti-bribery Management System ISO 37001:2016 (ABMS), there are nine procedures so that misuse of power can be avoided,” he said.
Also present were KWB General Manager Rodziah Mohamad and others.
