SIBU: For the first time ever, Sarawak Digital Media E-Platform Association is organising a short film competition to allow local film enthusiasts to showcase their talent and creativity in film making. Organising chairman Zoey Ting told a press conference yesterday that the competition is jointly supported by the Sibu Parliamentary Service Centre and several media partners. “The subject for the short video is ‘The Sarawak’ and we hope to receive at least 100 entries throughout the state,” she added. Also present at the press conference was Sibu MP Oscar Ling.
The contest is opened to all professional and amateur videographers or photographers in the state. “We hope by organising the contest, we can promote food, culture and travelling in the state,” she said. Ting, who is also the president of Sarawak Digital Media E-Platform Association, said the length for each entry must be between three to six minutes. Entry closes on November 1 and there is no entry fee.
“We will select the top 20 entries on November 10 and winners will be announced on November 15,” she said. Cash prizes of RM5,000, RM2,500 and RM1,500 will be awarded to first, second and third place winners respectively. There will also be five consolation prizes of RM500 each.
