KAPIT: The Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, organised by the Society for Cancer Advocacy and Awareness (SCAN) Kuching in partnership with the Sarawak Cancer Support Group, has taken place to raise awareness about breast cancer among rural communities here recently.

Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Native Law and Custom) Jefferson Jamit Unyat said that the campaign aims to provide greater attention and education to rural communities through self-examination, benefiting people of all ages.

In addition to supporting the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, Jefferson donated RM5,000 to Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak (SIDS) to support their charitable activities.

Furthermore, he extended his contributions by giving RM10,000 to the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Rumah Untang, and RM5,000 each to four other longhouses, namely Rumah Jandoh, Rumah Bilong, Rumah William, and Rumah Memaloh.

As part of his commitment to rural development, Jefferson conducted a site visit to Rumah Ngelai in Hulu Yong to inspect the ongoing construction process.
